Replacement Supplemental Levy Facts

  • Funds 1/3 of ALL district staff
  • Funds ALL academic & athletic extracurricular activities
  • Funds ALL curriculum materials
  • Funds technology upgrades and technology staff
  • Current instructional levy is $6,350,000 for 2010
  • Replacement levy is $6,823,312 for 2011; $6,823,312 for 2012
  • This new levy replaces the old levy; it is not additional
  • A home with an assessed valuation of $250,000 with the homeowner's exemption currently pays $16.75/month. The replacement levy would be a $3.44/month increase.
  • LPOSD has one of the lowest school tax rates in North Idaho, which is 60% below the state average
  • State revenues for education have declined significantly
  • The county will run this election; ALL voting will be held in precinct polling sites used for the general election. Voters can only vote at a school precinct if that is where they vote in the general election
